Volkswagen Motorsport India has started the registration process for the 2019 Ameo Cup.

2019 marks the 10th year of Volkswagen India’s one-make touring car series and the third for its current iteration, the Ameo Cup.

Like the previous years, the series calendar will comprise 10 races across Kari Motor Speedway, Madras Motor Race Track and the Buddh International Circuit, with most of the rounds run as part of the MRF MMSC National Racing Championship.

Racing enthusiasts can sign up for the series until February 3rd, 2019 by clicking on this link.

The applicants will undergo a thorough evaluation at the IndiKarting Track in Pune, where they will be judged on the basis of their lap times, racing lines, consistency, driving attitude and versatility.

As many as 20 drivers will be selected and each of them will receive fitness training before they step into the Ameo race car.

“2019 is a special year for Volkswagen Motorsport in India,” Mr. Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India said.

“We are entering our 10th year and looking back, I feel a sense of pride in the journey that we have covered be it in terms of the progress we have made in infrastructure to the work we have done in raising awareness about motorsport in the country and supporting amateur and seasoned talent alike.

“We have had some great races last season and I look forward to another year of superb talent and racing season.”

Based on the road-going compact sedan Ameo, the race version of the car is powered by a 1.8-litre TSI engine capable of churning out just over 200 bhp.

Volkswagen has designed the Ameo race car in a way that anyone who has participated in the series can directly jump to a TCR category internationally.
