Chennai Ameo Cup: Mohite takes dominant Race 3 win
Dhruv Mohite bounced from retirement to win the final race of the second round of Volkswagen Ameo Cup in Chennai.
Mohite got a better start than polesitter Saurav Bandyopadhyay and dived down the inside of the Thane-based driver into turn 1 to move into the lead of the race.
He immediately built a one-second buffer up front, only for a safety car - deployed to clear crashed cars - to bring his advantage down to nil again.
When the race resumed after a two-lap caution period, Mohite perfected the restart and sprinted clear of the rest of the field, eventually taking the victory by a comfortable margin of 3.876s.
Jeet Jhabakh, who was tagged by Pratik Pandurang Sonawane and pitched into a half spin just before the SC, finished second after overtaking Bandyopadhyay and then Anmol Singh Sahil in quick succession after the safety car period.
Sahil eventually grabbed the final spot on the podium while Bandyopadhyay repassed Sonawane to salvage fourth.
Shubhomoy Ball and Siddharth Mehdiratta were classified sixth and seventh respectively, while Sandeep Sangharjka, Amjad Khan and Ayush Ramesh Tainwala completed the top 10 - the trio finishing within two seconds of each other.
