The Manabhum Off-Roaders Club of Arunachal (MOCA) was crowned champion in the 2018 edition of JK Tyre Orange 4x4 Fury, beating the dominant Gerrari Off-Roaders squad.

MOCA and Gerrari were separated by just five points until the final day of the event, when things turned in favour of the local team.

MOCA, led by drivers Aditya Mei and Chow Ujjal Namshum and guided by co-drivers Chow Sujeewan Choutang and Chow Ingieng Mein, claimed victory in the penultimate Camp the River stage and finished second in the final stage to bag an impressive overall win.

Gerrari duo Gurmeet Singh (with Gurpratap Sandhu as navigator) and Kabir Waraich (with Yuvraj Singh Tiwana) could finish only third in Camp the River stage and were later hit with 30 penalty points for breaking a bunting.

As such, a victory in the final stage simply wasn’t enough to overhaul MOCA as the Arunachal Pradesh-based squad secured a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh for the overall win.

“We stuck to our overall strategy of avoiding penalty points at any cost,” MOCA’s Mei said. “We worked well as a team which was perhaps easy because we are all from the same family.”

Bangalore’s BODA team was classified third overall and awarded with Rs 1 lakh - Rs 50,000 short of what Gerrari received for finishing second in the table.
