Yamaha Factory Racing’s MotoGP bike was adorned with the Indian flag during the final pre-season test of 2019 in Qatar.
As part of a promotional campaign by Yamaha India, the YZR-M1 ran with decals of the famous tricolour as well as the word ‘India’ near the visor.
The decals were seen on both Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales’ bikes between February 23-25 at the Losail International Circuit.
Unfortunately, the stickers will not remain on the bikes when the season begins at the same venue on March 8.
This was not the first time Yamaha’s Indian arm used MotoGP as a promotional tool in the country.
Towards the end of 2015 it invited triple premier class champion and then Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo to ride the new R3 at the Buddh International Circuit.
Yamaha’s MotoGP bikes are also an ever-present feature at the biennial Auto Expo motor show in Greater Noida.
