Mohsin shines in JK Tyre Rotax Karting season opener
Shahan Ali Mohsin took top honours in the opening round of JK Tyre Rotax Max National Karting Championship at Meco Kartopia track near Bangalore.
Reigning Micro Max champion Mohsin called on his international experience as he took a fine double win in the pre-final and final, accumulating a class-leading 89 points in the Senior Max category.
Manav Sharma, a regular in the Euro JK class of JK Tyre National Racing Championship, finished second to Mohsin, with Coimbatore’s Bala Prasath completing the podium spots.
Manav finished both races in second position and trails Mohsin by just four points, with Prasath another three points adrift in third.
Bengaluru’s Mihir Avalakki also took a double in the Micro Max category, driving for Italian squad Birel ART. Avalakki had also previously starred in the X-30 category of JK Tyre National Karting Championship earlier this month.
Rushon and Ruhaan Alva, who has prior experience of Easy Kart Italia championship, are tied in second place, six points behind their Birel ART Teammate Avalakki.
Ishaan Madhesh of Peregrine Racing also took victory in both the pre-finals and final, securing a grand total of 89 points in the season opener.
He is trailed by Birel ART’s Ranveer Singh, who sits on 85 points, and teammate Jagrat Detroja (82 points).
