Single-seater convert Akhil Rabindra will drive an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 for PROsport Performance in the 2019 GT4 European Series.

This will be his second season in the category, having campaigned a BMW M4 GT4 for 3Y Technologies last year.

Rabindra started his career in single-seaters and created an impression in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship, before stepping up to the British F4 series in 2015.

He switched to sportscar racing two years later, joining then-McLaren associated squad Garage 59 for a season in British GT.

The Vantage will be third different GT4 car he will be driving after his previous one-year stints in McLaren 570S and BMW M4.

"The GT4 European Series is a very competitive championship, in which I learned a lot during the past season,” Rabindra said.

“The experience will certainly help a lot in the new season with Aston Martin, but even more valuable is the experience that PROsport Performance has gained in this and other racing series.

"I am convinced that the new Vantage GT4 also has great potential, as have all the vehicles Aston Martin has brought to the track so far in its unique history."

Rabindra will team up with 23-year-old Swiss racer Florian Thoma, who graduates to GT4 European championship after a two-year stint in the German ADAC TCR series.

"Florian Thoma and Akhil Rabindra are a young, ambitious duo. Akhil brings already experience from GT4 including the European Series, Florian we already know from the ADAC TCR Germany," said team principal Christoph Esser.

"We, too, know and appreciate the GT4 European Series, which we have been racing since 2013 and won both team and drivers titles in 2016 as one of PROsport Performance's greatest achievements."

The 2019 GT4 European series will begin at Monza (Italy) on April 12-14.
