Paul Ricard F3: Daruvala adds podium to race 1 win
Jehan Daruvala continued his strong run in the 2019 Formula 3 season, adding a podium finish to his feature race victory in France.
Daruvala finished third behind Prema teammate Robert Shwartzman and Trident’s Pedro Piquet after starting eight on the reversed-grid race.
The 20-year-old initially dropped behind ART’s David Beckmann before slowly creeping up the field, moving up to fourth after passing Campos driver Alex Peroni on lap 11 of 20.
Two laps later he had passed Red Bull junior Yuki Tsunoda for the final spot on the podium, before he also reeled in Piquet to provisionally grab second place.
Unfortunately, Daruvala’s tyres appeared to lose grip as the race wore on, allowing Piquet to take second on the penultimate lap of the race.
However, third place still marked his third consecutive podium, after victories in the Barcelona sprint race and the Paul Ricard feature event.
He continues to hold second place in the standings, 12 points behind Prema teammate and race winner Shwartzman.
