The Formula 4 South East Asia series will return to India this year, with two rounds scheduled at the Madras Motor Race Track near Chennai in the month of July.

The FIA-sanctioned series made its first visit to India in 2018 after several unsuccessful attempts, with MMRT successfully playing host to a double-header in September.

It has now been confirmed that India has retained its spot on the calendar, although both the scheduled rounds have now been moved to earlier in the year.

The first batch of four races will take place between July 12-14, followed by another four on the succeeding weekend of July 19-21.

In all, this year’s F4 SEA will comprise 10 rounds and 40 races, with Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines being the other venues apart from India.

F4 SEA is likely to be the only international FIA-sanctioned event to take place in India this year after the demise of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

In terms of motorcycle racing, too, the country has lost its spot on the Asia Road Racing Championship map following the introduction of a new 1000cc class.

The MMRT circuit is not conducive for bikes with such a high capacity and it’s unclear why the series didn’t choose to race at the Buddh International Circuit instead.
