Indo-French outfit Sherco TVS won the second stage of the Merzouga Rally, with Michael Metge topping the times on Tuesday.

Riders had to tackle Morocco’s famous Erg Chebbi dune complex for the first part of the stage, before heading out for a faster but equally tricky 120 km run towards the finish line.

Metge clocked a time of 3hr42m09s to move up to second in the overall standings, behind stage 1 pacesetter Adrien Van Beveren (Yamaha).

This was his and Sherco TVS’ first stage win in any event since the penultimate stage of this year's Dakar Rally.

Hero also enjoyed a strong day, with Oriol Mena finishing second and just over a minute adrift of Metge.

Following the result, Mena moves up to fifth in the standings, but with 22 minutes to make up to the top runner.

Mena’s teammate Joaquim Rodrigues takes up third spot in the overall rankings following a fourth place finish in stage 2.
